The Mind/Body Connection Continued

There was a time when thinking was believed to be a function solely of the brain.  Not anymore, the truth is theheart processes and sends more information to the brainthan vice versa.  Once the heart interprets emotions-feelings as “all is well” (contentment) or “look out danger “(stressful/fearful) the brain responds accordingly.   Signaling the body to secrete endorphins, serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine or prepare for “fight or flight” by secreting the stress hormones epinephrine, adrenalin, and cortisol.

It is important to understand this because this is the connection between the mind and the body working together to promote good health and wellbeing or illness and disease.

Partnering in your health and wellbeing is being armed with the knowledge that you have control over your thoughts and feelings

Instead of:

“I`m afraid to do this- ““How exciting! I have a new opportunity to learn!”

“Life sucks- “Life can be a challenge some days and I am ready to meet the challenge”

“I`m just a stressed person, no changing that”- I manage my stress, it doesn`t manage me.  I am in control”
